Unofficially at 5:35pm, and officially at 9:21pm our home became an empty nest. On Sat. we sent the youngest off to college in his car that we had packed tightly as in Tetris tight. We spent the week trying to figure out what was needed in his off campus dorm. The word was everything. Lucky for us as pack rats, we found various hodge podge of stuff to accommodate them for the time being. We promised to come up the following weekend with what ever else they needed.
Upon returning from a brief stay in San Francisco for a friend's daughters wedding, we came back to prepare #2 for his move to Seattle. He is the one who landed in the land of coffee and drizzle at 9:21pm. His move seems more permanent as he enters Law School. He has to go through the process of changing his drivers license, obtaining health care, a car, insurance, etc. all within two weeks. Of course to him, this is nothing compared to landing in Paris with no language ability or anything else set up for him.
To us, it seems so ....... permanent, and quiet.
